39. Gallstone (Gall Bladder Stone)
39. Gallstone (Gall Bladder Stone)
The known information is that the gallstones are made of cholesterol, bilirubin and protein.
Why does this form in some, and not in others? What are the causes responsible for such stone formations? The following should make a sensible explanation:
In the first place, we know that it is the bile juice that emulsifies the fats and oils we consume, for purposes of digestion. If we eat more fat and oily foods, more bile secretes, and less if we consume less of them. If we consume too much of the oil and fats all the time, then, too much of the bile salts will be produced.
Such bile, when under-utilised, tend to get broken down to produce cholesterol, and thus the serum cholesterol level will show very high levels.
Such an excessive oil consumption tends to create ‘ridge and groove-like’ parallel lines in the finger nails.
A reduced consumption of oily foods would gradually eliminate such a symptom.
Contrary to the above, if we do not consume fats and oils *, then, the bile secretion would gradually decrease and cease altogether.
(* This situation often arises in people who use non-stickware for cooking foods without any oil at all.)
When, this happens, any bile that has been stored in the gall bladder would get concentrated, dried up, and turn into stones. This will give rise to pain and a few other related problems.

To prevent the formation of gallstones, one should consume at all times, a mediocre amount of fats and oily food, and should not totally refrain from consuming such foods.
If stones are already formed, the best way should consist of consuming small quantities (initially 2 ml, and then gradually increasing it to about 10 ml) of high-density cholesterol (HDL) containing lipids (e.g., gingerly oil) in the mornings, on empty stomach, for a month or two.
This should induce the bile formation and secretion. The recently formed lighter stones would get dissolved away as well, thus clearing the gallbladder.
If this does not work, then, one will have no choice except to seeking help from modern medical practitioners, who may or may not recommend surgical measures for overcoming the problem.
